Scott Robinson, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, of Salisbury, North Carolina, is the 2016 president of the Appraisal Institute. He will serve as immediate past president in 2017. He serves this year as chair of the organization’s Executive Committee and chairs its policy-setting Board of Directors.
Robinson has been active in real property appraisal and consulting since 1987, when he joined Robinson Associates, a Salisbury firm his father started in the mid-1960s. Robinson has been actively involved with the Appraisal Institute since joining as a candidate for the SRA designation in 1987, including a four-year term on the national Board of Directors and serving as chair of Region V. He has served in all offices for the North Carolina Chapter and has been active at the regional and national levels since 1991. Robinson served as national president-elect and vice president on the Executive Committee and as chair of the national Finance Committee in 2014.
Since 2014, Robinson has served as vice president for World Association of Valuation Organizations. He has been a trustee for the International Property Management Standards Coalition since 2014, and serves on the organization’s Executive Committee.
He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wake Forest University, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Robinson and his wife, Kim, of 27 years reside in Salisbury. He has two children; a daughter, Molly, who is a graduate student at East Carolina University and son, Miles, who is a high school senior.
